The TPLF Office has taken control of the mayorship of Adigrat through a military operation. The Adigrat Communication Office reported that a group of armed forces entered the town’s administration compound, broke down the door, and seized control of the mayor’s office.

The TPLF Office also confirmed with pride its takeover and stated that Radae Gebreezgiabiher, a member of its faction and is claimed to have been appointed by the town council, “has now assumed office” and “expressed gratitude, saying his struggle has paid off.”
Security forces are reportedly attempting to facilitate similar transfers of power in other parts of Tigray by replacing Interim Administration appointees, further escalating tensions in the region.
In its statement, the TPLF Office accused the previous mayor of being installed by “traitorous individuals” whose allegiance lies not with Tigray but rather with the regime in Addis Ababa.
